Secret Projects

Certain technologies allow bases to focus themselves in particular directions, these massive infrastructure projects are known as Secret Projects. Constructing a Secret Project grants significant bonuses to the bases Ideologies without the need for upkeep or taking up space that other Facilities would as the Bases domes are custom converted to support the new infrastructure leading the Secret Project to become part of the Base itself. Once completed the base becomes famed across Chiron for hosting this fabulous infrastructure and duplicates pale in comparison to the prestige of the original and best.

Undertaking a Secret Project

A group of characters may undertake the construction of a Secret Project with the permission or assistance of the Base's Commander. Unlike facilities the characters must pass a series of skill checks to ensure the project is completed properly each Secret Project requires different checks noted in the table below, as well as the different resources they need to have available to them. In the event of several factions attempting to construct the same Secret Project at the same time, priority will be given to the group that finishes first, be that in an earlier downtime slot or by succeeding at the checks in the fewest attempts possible, if further tiebreaks are needed those with the highest level of success, followed by highest relevant proficiencies, if things are still tied then the winner will be determined at random.

If you are beaten to the punch for completing your Secret Project the resources spent may be repurposed to another project this back-up project will need to be noted in your downtime submissions, if no back-up is noted the resources will have been wasted in the attempt.
