The Believers

“The righteous need not cower before the drumbeat of human progress. Though the song of yesterday fades into the challenge of tomorrow, the divine still watches and judges us. Evil lurks in the datalinks as it lurked in the streets of yesteryear. But it was never the streets that were evil.”

Ideologies

It was never part of the U.N's plan that Miriam Godwinson would be a leader; indeed on the Unity she was the head Psych Chaplain rather than an officer. However, during planetfall she helped survivors from a damaged landing pod survive the rough early years, and in doing so became the head of the group. Once a disparate collection of the walking wounded and traumatised, now the Believers are a tight-knit group with bonds forged through suffering and survival.

Compassionate, driven and extremely human-centric, the Believers maintain that a divine hand guides the survival and development of humanity. The identity of that hand is a topic of friendly debate; members adhere to a wide variety of different Earth spiritual practices from agnosticism to monotheism, pantheism to animism.

All agree however that in opposition to this holy guidance is an Adversary, one who seeks the downfall and extinction of humankind, and that the Believers must act to foil its plan.

Typically the Believers tend towards austere lifestyles. Comforts and luxuries are a waste of time and money, aside from when they are used to enhance temples and other such religious meeting places.

They are a stolid people capable of weathering discomfort and misfortune without losing heart, yet also have an inherent resistance to change and innovation. This includes the development of technology, mistrusting anything new and cutting-edge in case it turns out to be a tool of the Adversary.

Most believers also wear small symbols relating to the religion that they belong to.

Gaia’s Stepchildren - Their spirituality is admirable but young and poorly understood even by their own; belief is nothing until challenged

Human Hive – Yang’s godless philosophies will drive his people to despair. In his quest to eliminate wants he will create a nation of hunger and avarice

Morgan Industries – A fine example of soft hands and cold hearts, they know the price of everything but the true value of nothing.

Opinions

UN Peacekeepers – They hold onto their humanity, but their lack of drive prevents them from finding a better way to live then what they have always known.

Spartans – Violence for its own sake is a wasted passion, still they defend their way of life admirably

University of Planet – Their arrogance and hubris drive them to commit atrocities in the name of their false god, they must be stopped.
